Serra holds Charter Night Serra Club of Saginaw held its Annual Charter Night on June 15 at The Swan Valley Banquet Center. The purpose for this meeting is to install the new officers and trustees for the next year.

Emmaus House receives $10K grant from Consumers Energy Foundation
The Saginaw Serra Club has been very generous in its support of the Emmaus House building project called the Morrow Resource Distribution Center. President Jean Seman and her daughter Ann Prenzler were instrumental in securing a grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation for $10,000. The grant was presented to Sr. Marietta Fritz, the Director of The Emmaus House, on September 19. Read the full story.

Sheriff William L. Federspiel speaks to Serra Club
Speaking to more than 25 Serra members on November 3 at the Center for Ministry Sheriff Federspiel praised the value of his Nouvel C.C. education. He is a 1986 graduate of Nouvel. He told those present how his Catholic faith guides him each and every day in his decision making process.
Sheriff Federpiel was elected Sheriff of Saginaw County in November, 2008. He commands 146 sworn deputies and over 80 additional support personnel. His focus each and every day is to serve the people of Saginaw County to the best of his abilities. Federspiel has been a law enforcement officer for more than 20 years. He and his wife Mandy reside in the City of Saginaw and are members of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. For access to the Sheriff's home page please click here.
Serra welcomes Fr. Nicholas Coffaro as its new chaplain.
Fr. Coffaro was born and raised in Garfield Hts. Ohio. After graduating from St. Peter Chanel High School he entered Borromeo College Seminary and after transferring to the College Program of Priestly formation at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, MI he attended St. Mary’s College of Ave Maria University, The Catholic University of Lublin, Poland and completed his B.A. at Madonna University, Livonia, MI in Polish Studies and Theology in 2004. After being accepted into the Theologate at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary he became a Seminarian of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, MI. Fr. Coffaro received his Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts in Systematic Theology in 2008. He was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Rev. Robert J. Carlson on May 16, 2008 and was appointed as Associate Pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Church Saginaw, MI. In November of the same year Fr. Coffaro was appointed as Chaplin of the Serra Club of the Diocese of Saginaw.
